Carsten Rau (mail@raufilm.de) is a documentary filmmaker, director and executive producer. He lives with his family in Hamburg. Following university studies in political science and history in Berlin and Hamburg, he worked for 13 years for the NDR television. His last position was in the Documentary Film and Features department.
In 2006 he founded the firm PIER 53 Filmproduktion together with Hauke Wendler. Carsten Rau has repeatedly received awards for his films, including the German Grimme-Prize. In 2021, he founded his own production company, raufilm., and has since collaborated with selected colleagues in cinematography, editing, research, and more.
